Microsoft loosen the noose around the Windows 7

PCs with a processor Skylake will be updated to January 2020. Users of PCs with a processor Skylake will continue to receive updates for Windows 7 and 8.1 by the end of their life cycle

Microsoft extended support for Windows 7 and 8.1 PCs with processors of the sixth generation Intel Skylake the end of the life cycle of both operating systems.

Users of such configurations will receive all updates from Microsoft security to January 2020 for Windows 7 and January 2023 for Windows 8.1.

At the same time, the company remains true to its earlier decision to deliver updates to holders of PC processors from the seventh generation Intel Kaby Lake and AMD Bristol Ridge only if they use Windows 10.

The same condition applies for all future processors, ie PC users with them will receive updates for Windows 7 and 8.1, but if that does not suit them, will have to switch to Windows 10.

On the Microsoft website published a list of PCs based Skylake , holders will continue to receive updates for Windows 7 and 8.1 by the end of the life cycle of both operating systems. Windows 7 is still the most popular desktop platform.
